Miss C Goutte, Modern Language & English Teacher
St Wilfrid’s is a dynamic and innovative environment with a supportive team of teachers, powerful educational tools and facilities, a trusting community and a place where everyone can thrive.
I joined St Wilfrid’s in September 2015 and immediately saw the passion my colleagues share for their subjects and instantly felt the fabulous ‘St Wilfrid’s Spirit‘. I was warmly welcomed into my department, where people guided me and helped build up my confidence as the weeks went by. I quickly had the opportunity to become a House Leader which enables me to give something back to the students and to my colleagues.
St Wilfrid’s is more than just a school. It is a wonderful place where the students are supported and encouraged to give their best in every subject. It is also a place where both students and staff share their faith and regularly gather as a community, united by something deeper than their jobs or their studies. Every Friday morning, the Mass in the chapel is a unique moment where all faiths can come together to share a peaceful and spiritual moment.
Mr M Saplow, Science Teacher
St Wilfrid’s is an excellent place to work. Ever since I started in September the support I have received has been brilliant. The staff are all extremely friendly and more than happy to give help and advice. There is an extremely positive atmosphere around the school that comes from both staff and students alike. The strong sense of community at St Wilfrid’s promotes a sense of pride about the school and everyone associated works hard to provide the best possible opportunities to achieve.
As a NQT, the program for continued professional development has been very beneficial alongside the other whole school professional development opportunities. St Wilfrid’s is a great place to work, as you get the opportunity to develop as a teacher and work with fantastic colleagues and young people.
Mr J Redmayne, Maths Teacher
I have only been at St Wilfrid’s a short time and I cannot believe how quickly I have settled into school life. The staff have been very welcoming and I have been exceptionally lucky with a young, innovative and supportive department who having a strong ethos of sharing resources.
St Wilfrid’s has a great community feel which students and staff are enthusiastic to be a part of. There is always a competition or activity that the pastoral team are running which keeps the students engaged and motivated towards scoring points for their House. The students make this school a great place to work, they are kind and helpful with a willingness to learn.
I have also been lucky enough to support the after school rugby club sessions, which is still growing, but students are keen and eager to learn new skills. I am continuing to grow as a teacher with full support to further develop my subject knowledge with external and internal courses. There is also an extensive range of CPD courses that taps into the wide range of skills that the faculty possess. It has been an intense first term and I have thoroughly enjoyed it here at St Wilfrid’s and I can really see myself here for the foreseeable future!
Ms K McGuiness, Year Leader and MFL Teacher
I started teaching at St Wilfrid’s in September 2009 and working here is like being part of a caring and supportive family. My well-being and my career have been nurtured in a way that I had not experienced before in other schools. The Catholic ethos at St Wilfrid’s allows both students and staff to feel supported and cared for in what is a truly cohesive community.
St Wilfrid’s is an environment of inspirational learning and I have enjoyed working and stretching its parameters in my various roles of Teacher, Subject Leader and Year Leader over the last seven years.
Mr R Waterman, PE Teacher
St Wilfrid’s is a brilliant school to be a part of. All the students and staff are very friendly and there is a consistent positive atmosphere around the school. The school’s House System adds healthy competition for students within their lessons and whole school community tasks. This allows students successes to be modelled and celebrated.
As an NQT, I have been able to access support from staff not just in my department but from all around the school. I soon noticed that all staff share a passion within their subject areas that promotes student progress as well as providing opportunities for students to engage in educational experiences.
