Talent Project
St Wilfrid’s is soon to be housed in a brand new school. However, as a whole
school community we still have to raise money to provide for a new Chapel. ‘The
Talent Project’ is our first whole school initiative to kick start fundraising
for this project whilst linking the activity to our Business and Enterprise with
Ethics status and the Catholicity of the school which makes us stand out from
other local schools.
The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) teaches us how we are under a
moral obligation to use our gifts rather than to waste them. It is in this way
that we want to encourage our students to do the same in a safe, enterprising,
legal and ethical way.
On the 23rd March 2007, each student is to be given £1.oo. We would like them to
use their ‘talent’ –the £1.oo coin - combined with their own unique ‘talents’
(such as singing, dancing, hard-work or just plain inventiveness!) to raise
money for the new school chapel. They will be given until the 1 st May 2007 to
‘use their talents’ wisely and then, on this day to return their £1.oo and any
additional funds raised, to school. All school staff, both teaching and
ancillary, are also being encouraged to take part in the project too!
