Community
St Wilfrid’s prides itself in being an important link between the education and
spiritual growth of the community. The school therefore places strong emphasis
in building close ties with its key stakeholders and using its educational and
spiritual skills to support this important relationship.
This encompasses areas such as links with local catholic primary schools where we
can support the positive transition from primary to secondary school. We also
work with other secondary/special schools using our resources to help enhance
their pupil learning.
We also work with West Sussex Adult Education/our parents to provide adult
education classes in the specialist subjects of ICT, Business and maths to help
parents/local community to improve their skills in subjects that will enhance
their employability. We support families by providing refresher classes which
allow them to keep up with their child’s education commitment and make working
together a shared task.
We are developing strong links with the parishes via the Parish Priest network
and developing good communication to build continual opportunities for growth
for all members of our Catholic community.
Working with our students and staff we are doing a great deal of charitable work.
This can be through fund raising or through supporting the local community with
resources to help meet the needs of its most vulnerable.
We have a Youth Wing which acts as a place for our young people to spend time
enjoying a safe environment with their friends.
A huge emphasis is being placed on building relationships with local businesses
which will support our Business and Enterprise with Ethics status. This will
give our students a chance to experience the real world of work and allow our
teaching staff to invigorate their subject. Through this work it also allows our
business partners to develop their own people through continuing professional
development.
