St Wilfrid's Catholic School

'The best for all; the best from all'

Academic Success

Recent public examinations confirm our excellent, and still improving, academic results. We intend to rise to the challenge of equipping your children to be fulfilled people who make a positive contribution to the world around them.

St Wilfrid’s was recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country with our results improving 24% between 2007 and 2009.  St Wilfrid’s has recently been placed in the top 7% of schools nationally by Department for Education for progress for KS2-4 and KS4-5. This is a measure which takes in to account the academic levels of achievement that students enter the school with judged against their actual attainment in Year 11 and Year 13 (i.e. GCSEs, A Levels & equivalent). In short it is a measure of student progress. This is a critical measure of a school’s effectiveness as it describes the school’s impact throughout a child’s learning career at the school.

St Wilfrid’s has been placed in the top 7% of schools nationally

Most of our students stay on into Sixth Form and a high proportion then go on to university. As well as the traditional academic courses, we are increasingly offering flexible vocational courses and a curriculum that is tailor-made to the individual student’s requirements. Our Sixth Form results continue to be amongst the highest in County with the A level performance indicators placing St Wilfrid’s Sixth Form achievement as ‘excellent’ for 3 consecutive years. This data base takes from over 1000 sixth form institutions.

We take very seriously the responsibility of working with your child in a disciplined relationship of mutual trust and discernment.
