ParentMail

As you know we try very hard to keep parents regularly informed about what’s going on at the school, however, sending paper letters home can be rather ‘hit and miss’ with letters often going astray on the way!

We are also increasingly aware of the substantial cost and environmental impact associated with the amount of paper and photocopying involved.

To help improve these areas we have decided to use a service called ParentMail, which is used by over 3,500 schools across the UK to communicate with parents by email and text message.  ParentMail will be beneficial to you because:

  • Messages will get to you reliably
  • We can send messages directly to mums and dads at the same time
  • You will quickly know about important or urgent messages
  • We can tell you more about what’s going on at the school

Frequently asked questions

What is ParentMail?
Simply put, all letters and notes home from school will be electronically sent to your preferred e-mail address.

When is this all happening?
The initial deadline for has now passed for handing in the information sheets regarding your preferred contact e-mail. However, it is still possible to register for the service. Please download the form below and hand it into the Student Services office as soon as possible. It will take ParentMail until about mid-April to get things up and running.

When will the school go paperless?

If everything goes to plan, in April, once we have come back from the Easter holiday. We may be ready sooner, and if that is the case we will inform parents in advance.

Will I still be able to get the letters without an e-mail address?
Whilst it is preferable for everybody to have an e-mail address, there will be a system in place for those who do not have one. Please see the office staff or Mrs Gildea if you have any concerns. Please remember there are many web-based e-mail providers available that do not require a broadband contract. For those without internet access at home, you can also receive ParentMail through your e-mail account at Internet cafes or libraries.

Will anything be sent on paper once the school goes paperless?
Parent's Evening forms, school reports, individual correspondents from the school and a few others from time to time may go out with the children. When that occurs, we will endeavour to send out an e-mail to let you know.

Why do I need to supply my mobile phone number?
This information is for emergencies only. We anticipate using them to send texts when a school trip is back late, one of our clubs is cancelled or something changes at the last minute. We guarantee that they will not be used on a regular basis for distributing information, so you do not need to be worry about being inundated with texts from us.
