‘A Servant of Two Masters’ Theatre Studies Trip

Year 12 Theatre Studies students went on a fun-filled trip last Tuesday evening to see ‘A Servant of Two Masters’ by Carlo Goldoni and adapted by Lee Hall (screenwriter of ‘Billy Elliot’). The show was performed in ‘Commedia dell Arte’ style, a unique Italian comedy technique using high energy, stock characters and mask work. It was an entertaining and hilarious piece. By watching this show our students gained an insight into the origins of the ‘British Pantomime’ as well as expanding their knowledge of theatre and acting styles.
As part of the popular AS Theatre Studies course, they are now expected to reflect on the experience by writing a critical theatre review, which will count toward their final grade.
“Surprisingly funny and an upbeat, modern interpretation.” Chelsea Elcombe
“Truffledino the hero , made the performance a real success. I’ve got lots to write about now!” Roma Stellabotte
