St Wilfrid’s Enters the Dragons’ Den

St Wilfrid’s is challenging its students to enter their very own Dragons’ Den with original business ideas designed to raise money for the school fund.   This event is being run through the school House system, with each of the five House vetting its own candidates before submitting one team to enter the Dragons’ Den.

“We’ve got three local ‘Dragons’ from our Business Partners who actively support the school in such events,” says Business and Community Manager Ms Myers, “we’re lucky to have Theo Cronin, Chief Reporter from Business Matters, Louise Musgrave from Harbour View Productions and Dave Allen from the ethical vending company Vee3 .  They have the local knowledge, range of expertise and business acumen that students will have to work hard to impress.  It won’t be easy, but what a great experience!”

The school’s Fundraising Manger, Mrs Gildea, decided to run the event following many other successful fundraisers driven by the school’s students, “They have an excellent track record of coming up with creative ways of raising money for the school,” says Mrs Gildea, “we wanted to give them an opportunity to receive some start up money in order to finance some of the bigger ideas they have.  By entering the Dragons’ Den, they have the chance to be awarded up to £50 by the Dragons, but the winner will be the team that makes the most return on investment, so the Den is just the beginning.”

The initial stages of this event are underway now, with the Dragons’ Den opening its doors on the 26th March.  Good luck to everyone who enters!
